  1. All members will respect the staff and their decisions. Our staff are volunteers and dedicate a large amount of their free time, resources and skills to help provide you with the best tailored experience within the gaming community. If you have an issue with a particular staff representative, or decision made, you may escalate it to the server owner through a ticket in the Gambit Gaming Discord.
  2. All members must be respectful and accepting of all members. There will be no discrimination or hate speech against any member, especially in regards to; age, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or genetic information.
  1. No member will harass another member. Harassment is identified as repeated unwanted advances or communication from one member to another. This includes sexual harassment and general harassment.
  1. No member will purposely “ruleplay”. “Ruleplay” is the action of bending or crafting rules to your favor alone, or breaking RP to insinuate another player’s rule break. If you are unsure how a rule should be interpreted, please open a Discord ticket.
  1. Members will not speak poorly of members, staff, or content in intent to antagonize or entice a heated argument. If members have issues with any member, staff or content they are welcome to open a support ticket via the Discord ticket system so that it may be handled in a professional manner.
  1. Members will not spam channels in any service of Gambit Gaming. This is continuously posting similar or same content in a small amount of time.
  2. Members will not troll other members or the community in whole by conducting actions in intent to interfere, restrict or ruin another member’s experience.
  1. No sexually explicit material may be posted/discussed except in a not-safe-for-work (NSFW) marked channel. This includes pictures, media, links, discussions, or erotic role-play (ERP).

These infractions will be weighted the same way as if it was conducted in one of Gambit Gaming’s services.
  1. All members who play on an RP server will utilize the following Discord nickname convention:
  • DiscordUsername (ICFirstName ICLastName)
    for example, AlphaZ3R0 (Sephler Solidor)
POWER-GAMING
  1. No member will conduct actions of power gaming. Power-gaming is the act of rushing through game mechanics and features to make yourself superior to other players. Usually in the act of power-gaming, players will avoid RP or plan strategically to get to “end-game” content as soon as possible.
  1. No member will conduct actions of meta gaming. Meta-gaming is using information gathered from out-of-character sources and applying it to your character in-game. Examples of meta-knowledge would be things such as knowing a location or actions of a character due to viewing a stream, discussing pre-emptively through means such as Discord, or by knowing the name of a character by viewing the name plate above the character in-game (also known as “name-plating”).
  1. No member will act in such a way to be perceived as god-modding. God-modding is creating and tailoring RP to push your character as superior to others. It’s making your character the “hero” or main character in all interactions and ensuring no negative consequences apply to you. Your character must be mortal.
  1. Players are prohibited from combat logging which, in short, is the act of disconnecting from the server to avoid RP or conflict. We understand that some players may need to quickly end an interaction due to time restrictions, we ask that the player simply explains the situation to all parties involved in this case.
  1. Members are expected to be able to differentiate between role-play and real life. If you are experiencing “bleed”, or are finding yourself unable to separate in-character actions and real-life emotions, consider taking a break from the game.
  2. Members’ actions as a character should not be held against them as a person.
  1. If a character is rerolled, they are considered a brand  new character and should share no memories of the actions  with the previous character. This is known as a “perma”, or permadeath.
  2. If a character “dies” in conflict without an agreement/understanding of it being a “permadeath”, it should be noted that the character was unconscious and may suffer some memory loss (traveling back to your body).
  3. NLR does not apply to ship combat; you may respawn on the ship you died on. If you died on a ship you boarded you may respawn on the ship you came from after 1 minute.
  • For example, if you were killed in a PVP action, you may choose to honor that as a “perma” and reroll a new character, or you may respawn and RP as being unconscious, remembering all events up to your death, and enduring some wounds from the action that initially caused you to be unconscious. In short, you remember what caused you to become unconscious, but you do not remember the events that occurred while waiting to respawn or get back to your body, and must now RP as being injured.
  1. All characters should have a sense of mortality and value for their life. They should not take on dangerous tasks or adventures without considering the consequences of what may happen.
  1. You must have a working microphone to play on this RP server. You may use voice moderation apps, so long as you are understandable by other players.
  2. RP should be conducted using the voice chat (VOIP) feature of the server Only.. We understand that sometimes technical difficulties or medical reasons prohibit players from using the voice function. In these instances the text channel, “Local Chat”, in-game may be used and should be recognized in-character as General Sign Language. If players wish to not recognize these chats, they simply do not understand sign language in-character. For instances needing immediate out-of-character (OOC) communication, the “Local Chat” may also be used but text that is OOC should be surrounded by double parentheses.

For example, ((Oh darn, I left my parrot in the oven, I have to log off! Sorry guys.))

  1. VOIP/Calls outside of the server for RP are not allowed, this includes discord, teamspeak, etc
  2. “Local Chat” may also be used to note actions or emotes. These are things that cannot be replicated through normal game actions but are vital to the progression of RP. They should be notated by surrounding asterisks. They should be limited use.

For example, *Sephler scratches the back of his head with a pondering look upon his face.*

  1. The supported and primary language of the server is English. All members are expected to speak/understand English in an operable capacity.

We will attempt to make reasonable accommodations and understanding to folks that are unable to use microphones. Please open a support ticket on Discord for more information.

  1. The following topics/styles of RP are considered prohibited on the server:
    1. Torture
    2. Slavery
    3. Suicide
    4. Domestic or Sexual Abuse
  1. All names should have a reasonable RP meaning. They should fit our general naming conventions and not break any community rules. All names are also bound by our community rules. If a name similar to a pop-culture reference is used, the only similarity to that character should be the name and not any history/lore or demeanors. Be unique!
  2. All characters must be played as 18 years or older. For certain races that have a “skewed” age, their age should be equivalent to a human’s age of 18 years or older.
  3. Players are encouraged to create unique races. These races should fit the general theme of our server and cannot be immortal, overpowered or possess god-like abilities.
  4. Characters may be recycled or used again from chapter to chapter. However as a new chapter starts, that character should not have any expectations that players around them are the “same” character. Essentially use the chapters to build upon your character’s history, background or lore but do not gage new interactions on a new chapter to a character’s previous knowledge or interactions.
  5. All characters should have a sense of mortality. Although some races allow for increased lifespan, no character should be invincible or even difficult to kill.
BASE BUILDING
  1. Do not build random items to “extend” your base and limit others from building near you. This includes “foundation spamming”, where players build foundation pieces to prevent others from placing building pieces.
  2. Bases should be built with an RP mindset and have purpose.
  3. If you build something outside of your main base or outpost, demolish it after its temporary use. Repeat offenders who leave “litter” will have a “storm” that comes to damage their main base/ship. This includes initial buildings at the Freeport.
  4. “Active” defenses must be located within a highly visible and properly marked reasonable perimeter of your base and not extend to the entire island (exception is Navy Island). To mark a perimeter, large signs may be used if they are visibly chained, meaning you can easily see one sign from the next.
  1. You may not have overhead cover on your ship wheel.(roughly 180 view and no overhead)
  2. Ships must have a name.
  3. You may not conceal your ship’s name plate.
  4. Ships should be constructed with an RP mindset and to standards that fit the theme of the server.
  5. No portion of the ship should be “turtled”. This is the process of armoring, layering, or padding your ship using various construction parts. This includes having top deck cannons covered by ceilings, walls, or doors.
  6. All ships medium size and above must have one of the following roles. A ship that is not of a civilian role must fly at least 1 of the role indicator flags either on figurehead, mast, or rear hull. At least one sail must also be painted based on your role.
    1. Navy – “Navy Role Flag” and Navy Sails
    2. Mercenary – “Mercenary Role Flag” and Red Sails
    3. Pirate – “Pirate Role Flag” and Black Sails
    4. Civilian ships do not have to use a role flag.
  7. All cannons and top deck artillery must be balanced on the ship. Meaning you cannot have more than 1 additional cannon or top deck artillery to one side over the other.
  1. War declarations to plan an assault, to rescue captured allies, or commit structure destruction may be submitted for review via the Discord ticket system.
  2. Before a war declaration ticket is created, the two parties should discuss terms OOC. When the Discord ticket is created, please Include the logs from both parties on the discussion. Please give 24 hours real time for staff to make a decision.
    1. If the targeted party does not agree to the war declaration terms, a ticket may still be submitted and up to the GG Teams discretion to approve. If approved, a member of the targeted party will be informed.
  3. Land PvP may happen at any time if provoked by RP. However if the destruction of buildings is to occur, a war declaration must be submitted.
  1. Tames cannot be used in naval engagements. When on a ship, tames should always be set to passive.
  2. Aggressors may not sink a ship that has surrendered.
  3. Mutes cannot be used on Top Deck Artillery during PvP engagements.
  4. Home Field Advantage (HFA) is enabled in a Company’s home grid when their port is fired upon.
  1. When detaining or holding a prisoner, the prisoner may only be captive for 3 active real time hours. At the end of the 3 hours, they must be released under agreed upon terms. If an agreement cannot be reached, a Discord ticket may be opened to involve staff to help mediate the conflict.
  2. Prisoners’ companies/friends may attempt to break the player out of captivity.
  3. Prisoners may attempt to break out of captivity but understand that more severe consequences may be applied.
  4. When released, the prisoners must be given safe passage to a Freeport or means of transportation.
  1. You may not steal off of sleepers, only containers.(Must always have an RP interaction before any theft)
  2. A maximum of 5 different items may be stolen. Item stacks count towards this limit.
  3. A note containing a clue to who performed the theft MUST be left in the container with a list of what was stolen. This must be a clue that can be followed up on.
  4. Only 1 structure may be damaged/demolished to steal from a container.
  1. Death in a player vs environment (PVE) situation does not have to be recognized as an RP death. If you die in a PVE situation, you may return to your body and pick up where you left off. However, please keep in mind the NLR rule stated above: your character should not be rushing into a PVE situation without recognizing risks.
  2. NLR does not apply to ship combat; you may respawn on the ship you died on. If you died on a ship you boarded you may respawn on the ship you came from after 1 minute.
  3. Death in PVP is recognized as being “knocked out” or “unconscious” in RP and you may RP the injury right away or wait a short period to return to rp with minimal knowledge of what happened.
  4. No player may attempt/execute “permadeath” (the act of fully killing off a character in RP causing the dead player to reroll a new character)  to another player without written OOC agreement.
    1. In extreme cases, the server owner is the only person that may force perma a character for the overall wellbeing and quality of the server.
  5. Sleepers may not be harmed or killed. They may, however, be moved to a safer area if they are in danger. Moving sleepers into the way of harm, including in water to drown, is not allowed.
  6. Players will not abuse the death/spawn system. Players must use the closest bed respawn point to their death location. Players will not perform “bed hopping” for quick travel.
